Burton's Miles, Powell Valley's Barton players of the year in the LPD
J.I. Burton running back Martinez Miles has been named as the offensive player of the year and Powell Valley linebacker Taylor Barton has been named as the defensive player of the year on the All-Lonesome Pine District football team.
The team selected by the district's coaches was released Monday.
Joining Miles in the first-team backfield are Powell Valley quarterback Jacob Huff and running backs Lucas Kerns, of J.J. Kelly; Aaron Balthis, of Pound; and Bryan Rentfrow, of Powell Valley.
Clintwood's Ryen Elswick, J.I. Burton's Timmy Goins and Powell Valley's Lucas Fannon were named as wide receivers, while Clintwood's Nick Robinson was selected tight end.
Clintwood center John Dotson was also named to the first team, along with other offensive lineman Jared Thompson, of Appalachia, Jessee Coffey, of J.I. Burton, Ben Marks, of J.J. Kelly, Daniel Jordan, of Pound and Evan Orr, of Powell Valley.
The first-team kicker spot went to Clintwood's Nick Lewis.
First-team defensive selections incldue: Barton, Chase Morelock, of Appalachia; Evan Stewart, of J.I. Burton; Cameron Vanover, of Clintwood; and Cody Williams, of J.J. Kelly at linebacker.
Defensive linemen include Bret McGraw and Andrew Sargent of J.I. Burton; J.D. Bevel, of Clintwood; and Randell Lawson, of Powell Valley; along with Clintwood's Nick Robinson and J.J. Kelly's Garth Nicely at defensive end.
Defensive back selections include Miles, Appalachia's Forrest Stuart, Clintwood's Trey Meade, J.J. Kelly's Kerns and Pound's Balthis.
Clintwood punter Ryan Elswick also received first-team honors, along with return specialist Kenny Burke, of Powell Valley.
The Clintwood coaching staff was named the Division 1 coaching staff of the year, while Powell Valley received the Division 2 coaching staff of the year honors.

I think Dottson from CWood should have been there at FB but overall it looks pretty solid
I agree....that's the most accurate job that's been done with the All District selections in a long time.
